Data Points: Far fewer flu cases

The double whammy of high COVID-19 and flu cases that many health experts warned about in the fall has not come to pass. Through Feb. 6, 2021, for flu-tracking purposes, the seasonal sickness is at historic lows, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There are no definitive answers as to why influenza case counts have plummeted, but some public health experts have theorized that efforts taken to minimize the spread of COVID-19 like masking, social distancing and improved hand hygiene are playing a big role.
