How to Prep for a CleanTech® Automated Handwashing Station Install

There are a few things that will assist in the installation process of your CleanTech® EVO Automated Handwashing Station when you choose to partner with Meritech. Here’s what you’ll need to install a CleanTech® EVO Automatic Hand Washer:

What to know before the automatic hand washer installation

CleanTech® EVO units should be ordered with a clear idea of where the system will be installed. The following three components should be readily available in the area you choose.

  1. Power:
The CleanTech® EVO requires a standard 100-240VAC electrical outlet. In most food processing facilities, these outlets are already located in areas where handwashing is necessary. As the system uses a 6′ power cord, it is important to review your intended install area to ensure that the power source is accessible.
  2. Water supply:
The station requires a hot and cold water supply with a minimum flow rate of 4 gallons per minute (GPM). The cold water temperature should be between 40-80°F (4-26°C). The hot water temperature should be between 120-180°F (48-82°C). When replacing a sink with the CleanTech® EVO unit, the water supply that was used by the sink can easily be used by the unit as well.
  3. Drain:
The CleanTech® EVO requires a standard 1 1/2” floor or sink drain for wastewater disposal. The drain should be located ideally 18” (45.7cm) from the floor. There should be no problem finding a suitable drain in a hygiene zone for food processing facilities.

What you need for an automatic hand washer installation

Provided with your new CleanTech® EVO system will be an installation box. The box includes a welcome letter, a hand washing instruction sign to post above the system, an installation instruction card, water lines, and a p-trap. The installation instruction card will give you access to the Digital Owner’s Guide that provides manuals and training videos for the systems. Below are two components that ensure a successful installation.

  1. Mounting surface (if necessary):
The CleanTech® EVO Wall is designed to be mounted to a flat, sturdy surface against the wall. The mounting surface should be able to support the weight of the unit (approximately 90 pounds) and should be located near the water and electrical connections. A mounting plate is included with every CleanTech® EVO Wall installation box.
  2. Professional installation:
Lastly, it’s important that CleanTech® EVO Station is installed by a trained professional to ensure that all connections are properly made, and the unit is operating safely and effectively. Someone familiar with installing equipment in the facility would be the ideal as well as someone who is familiar with the plumbing and electrical setups inside of the facility.

In the event that you need additional assistance, your account manager can contact our dedicated installation manager. In addition to these basic requirements, you may also want to consider where you will place additional accessories such as paper towel dispensers or signage to promote hand hygiene in your facility.
